Loveeee! I was only able to quickly skim today but this is so resonant. I feel like attention is an important thread between the three (Words aren't perfect) - Repetition is the use of attention. Routine is the conservation of attention. Ritual is luxuriating in attention.
Oh I love this a LOT. Building out the layering of time onto this.... Repetition as short bursts of attention -- e.g. moments. Routine as a mechanism to create two parallel timelines (low grade attention / inattention on the routine structure, so that you can have attention on something else). Ritual is the sense of slowing time and creating space through attention.
I also wonder about the nuances between attention and tending. Repetition feels like attention (COME TO ATTENTION). Ritual feels like tending. Routine feels like attendance (repeatedly being here...doesn't mean you're paying attention and might be carving your initials and passing notes in the back).

I've been paying a lot of attention (ha!) to "attention" since I read this: https://www.themarginalian.org/2023/05/10/iain-mcgilchrist-the-matter-with-things/
